Lighting the Sanibel Lighthouse nearly five months after Hurricane Ian
Bringing light back to Sanibel, literally and figuratively, is happening Tuesday morning.
The city will officially relight the Sanibel Lighthouse. The lighthouse had a long road to recovery after Hurricane Ian rampaged across Southwest Florida, losing one of it’s legs during the storm.
The City of Sanibel relight the Sanibel Lighthouse February 28, 2023, at 6 am.
The Sanibel Lighthouse was damaged by Hurricane Ian on September 28, 2022, and has not been operable since the storm.
